Sanatan Dharma

"The soul's hunger for absolute Truth, absolute Goodness, absolute Beauty and absolute Power, I was told, was like the body's hunger for wholesome food and drink. And that which satisfied this hunger of the human soul, fully and finally, was Sanatana Dharma, true for all times and climes. A votary of Sanatana Dharma did not need an arbitrary exercise of will to put blind faith in a supernatural revelation laid down in a single scripture. He did not need the intermediacy of an historical prophet nor the help of an organised church to attain salvation. Sanatana Dharma called upon its votary to explore his own self in the first instance and see for himself the truths expounded in sacred scriptures. Prophets and churches and scriptures could be aids but never the substitutes for self exploration, self purification, and self transcendence.

I had come back at last, come back to my spiritual home from which I had wandered away in self forgetfulness. But this coming back was no atavistic act. On the contrary, it was a reawakening to my ancestral heritage which was waiting all along for me to lay my claim on its largesses. It was also the heritage of all mankind as proved by the seers, sages and mystics of many a time and clime. It spoke in different languages to different people. To me it spoke in the language of Hindu spirituality and Hindu culture at their highest. I could not resist its call. I became a Hindu."

The year 2008!

Its been more than a year since my first blog, and here I come again. Many of you who visited and sent me emails after my first blog might be wondering where am I. Well I was just hibernating.
Anyways, I hope you all are fine and enjoying. These are not the best of the times to be in, given the economic situation around the world, but my message to you all is "Be optimistic, be positive, and be good".
The year 2008 has been one of the worst years that I have seen, all starting with sub-prime mortgage meltdown, many of the people losing their houses, and many more losing jobs. To top it all, the various scams that rocked the US and the world, including the $50 billion ponzi scheme scam run by Bernard Madoff, and the scam by Allen Stanford.
I am glad that 2009 started with the heroic deed of Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger who successfully carried out the emergency water landing of the US Airways flight 1549 saving all the 155 lives aboard. Its stories and deeds like these that makes life wonderful, and gives us all hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I hope the year 2009 has more wonderful things to come, and hope you all will enjoy this new year and the years ahead.
Lets all spread the message of love, and remove hatred from our minds so we all can see a better tomorrow. On my part, I am planning to come here often and share my ideas and am willing to listen to yours. So do send me an email, I sure will include your posts on my blog. Thank you all.

Think positive!

This is my first post on my new blog, sadachar.blogspot.com! Sadachar means "good behavior", of
course it has a deeper meaning than just a "good behavior", but lets just stay there for now. Anyways, you may think with so many blogs around why did I start this new blog?
Well I had been thinking lately, and thats one reason why I am here! But seriously, I wanted to
spread the message of love, peace, good and positive thinking around. Good thoughts, deeds are contagious, and I wanted to see if this blog can help spread that word around.

Now a days when I open the newspaper in the morning, I see most of the negative news taking place on the front page, killings, robbery, hatred, and what not. Is this what people want to see really? Agreed that life means happiness as well as sorrows, but do we have to only highlight the sorrows? I was thinking if there is a newspaper which just had all the good and positive things to share on the front page. I was thinking if people look at the good things in others and not just focus on someones weaknesses or bad behavior. I dont make any resolutions for the new years, but I suggest that whoever (if anyone other than me ever visits this site) comes to my site, please try to do one good thing in a day. It could be as simple as not honking your horn while other driver tries to cut in. Or not look back in anger when someone honks you because you try to cut in. I remember one day while I was trying to change lanes, the driver in the other lane had to break, and he honked! I signaled sorry with my hands, and he reciprocated in kind. I am sure it made him happy, so did it made me happy! My point is good things also get reciprocated in kind like any bad behavior gets punished! So be kind, be good to your fellow human beings. Smile even if you dont know them, so they feel good. Hey thats my thought for today! And I am sure someone will visit this site someday and spread this message around. I will be coming back for more too.
Thanks a lot for listening!
